On a non-Monsoon storm night, participants can experience the calm and crystal-clear Bortle-1 Night Sky - one of the darkest and most pristine in New Mexico

Without light pollution, one can view with the naked eye the Milky Way core, photograph it, or use the available telescopes for a deeper exploration of the universe above.  

Astronomers and Milky Way Observers and Photographers have chosen this area as a prime location for observation and research.

Participants will stay on the Painted Pony Ranch, a Private 750-acre high desert ranch in Hidalgo County in southwest New Mexico, an area known as the Boot heel of the state.  This remote yet well-equipped estate offers modern amenities with peaceful solitude, ensuring a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.
